There is nothing dull about history, where else would blacksmithing and work smithing work so well together? Exploring the industrial heritage of Mid and East Antrim has taken us on an amazing journey of discovery from mills to mines and the men and women who were involved we are recreating a lost world which was radically changed by the Industrial Revolution. In villages like Broughshane cottage industries and traditional skills and services like blacksmiths were overtaken by mechanisation and innovation such as spade mills. The story of the survival of these traditional trades in the face of factories and a new world of steam has shaped local history.
Our task is to turn this history into a story that visitors can enjoy and engage with, so join us as we walk back in time and see just how history is written.
